Jack Griffiths (Percussion)

Awaiting Photo

Jack picked up the mantle from Kate Pate and joined his dad in the percussion section in 2007. Without hardly any rehearsal time, Jack found himself standing in front of an audience of over 200 at Whitchurch Civic Centre with Tarporley Band at our joint concert venture in 2007 and did himself proud, and, after a short spell in the Junior section on both drums and percussion under the guidance of Les (Mr Les) Roberts, is now a permanent member within the main band, growing in confidence with every performance and receiving glowing commendations from such luminaries as composer Roger Thorne.

Jack attends The Bishop Heber High in his senior school years and will hopefully be spreading the word via the school's links with the music for life scheme, whereby peripatetic teachers are involved in the pupils' musical tutorage.

As well as learning to play percussion, Jack hopes to follow in his father's footsteps and learn to play guitar and write poetry (but his father has warned him away from earning his first million before him!). In 2006 Jack won first prize in an internet poetry competition and had his poem published on the web. His other pastimes are science, history and reading on a voracious scale. He eats at least two novels for breakfast!

Jack is 13 years old.
