Although Whitchurch Band has an extensive library of music, we would like to think that you are able to choose the music for your event, request it, and for us to rehearse and play it if we can. Listed, in alphabetical order, is a very small selection to whet your appetite. Due to the size of our extensive library, our A to Z list is all we can offer you from this website.

Music Finder

Even before you book us, if you have a particular musical request, use our Music Finder service to find out if we have your piece of music by emailing Musical Director Simon Griffiths. He will trawl our library and return your email with a "Yes of course we can rehearse and play that piece at your function" or with a "No sorry - try again!" Of course our illustrious Musical Director is always trawling the 'net and ordering new scores every week, so even if we don't have your chosen piece we may be able to order it and rehearse it in time for your chosen function. Please allow two months notice in order for rehearsal time once we have the score.

Very important. At a recent private engagement, a gentleman berated the band because we didn't have the music to "Jerusalem", although this gentleman mistook this as we couldn't actually play the piece! Firstly, in the majority of cases, any orchestral band can only play a piece of music (a score) if it is placed in front of them. Secondly, the hosts of the private party hadn't included this piece on their request list. We finally placated the gentleman with "Pomp & Circumstance" which pleased him greatly and he was soon singing along!

If Whitchurch Band had to carry every piece of music it plays, it would need to hire a number of vans to carry the several filing cabinets of music it presently owns! So, if you are wishing to book us for a private engagement and would like a special request from our library (or if you know of any special requests from your guests) we would ask for at least two months notice in order that we can fit in with rehearsal schedules. Also we should mention that not all sets of music are complete as some are very old, so please ask well in advance to avoid disappointment.
